Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using BibleNova (the “App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”). These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and Five Cats Studios LLC (“Five Cats Studios,” “we,” “our,” or “us”), an Iowa limited liability company (Corp No: 864705) based in Grundy County, Iowa.

These Terms apply to all users of the App. Certain build configurations require explicit in-app acceptance before use:

• Alpha and full-release alpha builds (releaseAlphaFull): All users must accept these Terms before accessing the App.
• Production release builds (release): Paid (Premium) users must accept these Terms. Free-tier users are bound by these Terms upon download and continued use.

If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not download, install, or use BibleNova. We may update these Terms from time to time; continued use of the App after updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of those changes. We will provide notice of material changes within the App before they take effect.

Eligibility

BibleNova is intended for users who are at least 13 years of age (or the applicable digital age of consent in your jurisdiction, which may be 16 in parts of the European Economic Area). By using the App, you represent that you meet this age requirement.

If you are under 18, you represent that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf. We do not knowingly permit children under 13 to create accounts or use optional account-linked features such as Google Sign-In, cloud backup, or Shared Packs.

You may not use the App if you are prohibited from doing so under applicable law, or if you have previously had an account suspended or terminated by us for violating these Terms.

Description of the App

BibleNova is an Android Bible memorization app designed to help you hide God’s Word in your heart. The App is built offline-first — your verse progress, streaks, reflections, and Legacy Vault content are stored locally on your device and do not require an internet connection or account for core use.

Core features available without an account include verse memorization and spaced-repetition review, streak tracking, the Reflection Journal, the Legacy Vault, daily reminder notifications, Scripture Wrapped recaps, home screen widgets, and progress export. The full King James Version (KJV) is bundled and available entirely offline.

Optional features that require an account (Google Sign-In or email/password) or a Premium subscription include:

• Shared Packs — community verse packs where members coordinate progress anonymously (or optionally by display name in Compete mode).
• Cloud Backup & Restore — per-category backup of personal progress, streaks, reflections, and Legacy Vault audio. Available to all signed-in users in alpha builds; limited to Premium subscribers in production release builds.
• Premium Bible Translations — New King James Version (NKJV) and Christian Standard Bible (CSB), accessible via a Premium subscription.
• In-app support and trust/safety reporting — available to Premium users via the in-app pathway.

We reserve the right to update, modify, add, or discontinue features of the App at any time. We will aim to provide advance notice within the App of any significant removal of core features and will give active Premium subscribers reasonable notice of changes that materially affect their subscription benefits.

In-App Purchases & Subscriptions

BibleNova offers three optional Premium tiers that remove ads and unlock the NKJV and CSB translations:

• Premium Monthly — $3.99 / month, billed monthly, auto-renewing.
• Premium Annual — $14.99 / year, billed annually, auto-renewing.
• Premium Lifetime — $24.99 one-time purchase.

All purchases — subscriptions, lifetime purchases, restores, and refunds — are processed exclusively through Google Play Billing. Five Cats Studios does not receive, handle, or store your payment card number, billing address, or any other financial credentials.

Subscription Renewal and Cancellation

Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period at the then-current price unless canceled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. To cancel:

• Open the Google Play Store app.
• Tap your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
• Find BibleNova and tap Cancel subscription.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You retain Premium access until that date. Deleting your BibleNova account or uninstalling the App does not cancel an active subscription — you must cancel through Google Play directly.

Refunds

Refund eligibility and processing are governed by Google Play’s refund policies. We do not control refund decisions made by Google. If you believe a charge was made in error, contact us at nathan@5catsgamestudios.com and we will do our best to help.

Price Changes

We reserve the right to adjust the price of Premium tiers at any time. Active subscribers will receive advance notice of price changes through Google Play and, where reasonably practicable, within the App. Continued use of a subscription after a price change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the new price.

Optional Donation — Buy Me a Coffee

BibleNova includes an optional link to our Buy Me a Coffee page. Tapping this link opens your browser and takes you entirely outside the App. No App data is shared with Buy Me a Coffee when you tap the link. Any donation you make is processed by Buy Me a Coffee under their own terms and privacy policy — not by Five Cats Studios or Google Play Billing.

Free Tier & Advertising

The free tier of BibleNova is supported by advertising served through Google AdMob. Premium subscribers see no ads — upgrading to any Premium tier immediately removes all advertising for as long as your Premium is active.

Ad formats used in the free tier include banner ads, interstitial ads, app-open ads, and optional rewarded ads. Rewarded ads are always user-initiated — they never play unless you tap the corresponding button to start them.

BibleNova uses Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) to collect and manage your ad-personalization preferences in compliance with the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF) v2.2. Where required by law, you will be shown a consent dialog when you first launch the App. Ads are non-personalized by default. You can revisit your preferences at any time at Profile → Settings → Privacy → Privacy Options.

Bible Content & Third-Party Licenses

The King James Version (KJV) is a public-domain translation bundled directly in the App and is available fully offline at no cost.

All other Bible translations — including public-domain and open-license translations (ASV, BSB, WEB, Geneva, Douay-Rheims, LSV, and many more across 100+ languages) as well as the Premium translations (NKJV and CSB) — are licensed from API.Bible, a service operated by the American Bible Society. Your use of these translations is subject to the API.Bible Terms and Conditions in addition to these Terms.

The NKJV and CSB are commercially licensed translations accessible only to Premium subscribers. Text-to-speech (TTS) playback is not available for the NKJV or CSB — our API.Bible license does not include TTS rights for those translations. TTS is available for all public-domain and open-license translations.

You may use Bible text displayed in the App for personal memorization, reflection, and study. You may not reproduce, distribute, or transmit Bible text retrieved through the App in bulk or in any way that exceeds fair use or the applicable translation’s license terms. User Content & License Grant

You own your content. Reflection journal entries, Legacy Vault recordings, verse notes, and any other personal content you create in BibleNova belong to you. Five Cats Studios does not claim ownership over your personal content.

For content that remains on your device only — local verse progress, journal entries, Legacy Vault audio — no license is granted to us. That content never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to enable a backup feature.

By using features that share or store content with others or on our servers — such as creating or joining a Shared Pack, enabling per-category cloud backup, or submitting an in-app support report — you grant Five Cats Studios LLC a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to store, process, transmit, and display that content solely as necessary to operate and provide those features to you (and, in the case of Shared Packs, to the other members of that pack). This license does not permit us to sell your content, use it for advertising, or share it outside the scope of the feature you chose to use.

We do not use your personal content — including verse notes, reflections, Legacy Vault recordings, or any backup data — to train artificial intelligence models.

You are solely responsible for the content you create and share. By submitting content to any shared feature, you represent that you have the right to share it, that it does not infringe any third-party rights, and that it complies with these Terms.

Intellectual Property

All rights in BibleNova — including the App’s code, design, graphics, interface, branding, feature names, game mechanics, audio, and all content created by Five Cats Studios — are and remain the exclusive property of Five Cats Studios LLC, protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

These Terms grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use BibleNova on your Android device for personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms and the Google Play Terms of Service.

You may not:

• Copy, reproduce, modify, adapt, or create derivative works of the App or its content.
• Redistribute, sublicense, sell, resell, or transfer the App or any access to it.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to extract the App’s source code.
• Remove, obscure, or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices within the App.
• Use BibleNova’s name, logo, or branding without our prior written permission.

Acceptable Use

BibleNova is a faith-oriented memorization and community app. We ask all users to engage with it — and with one another through shared features like Shared Packs — with honesty and care.

You agree not to:

• Harass, bully, threaten, or demean other users through any shared or community feature.
• Share content in Shared Packs that is hateful, discriminatory, obscene, defamatory, or that violates any person’s rights.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users’ accounts, data, or our systems.
• Manipulate, falsify, or reverse-engineer any game mechanic, progress metric, or streak data.
• Use automated scripts, bots, or other tools to interact with the App in a manner not intended for human users.
• Circumvent, disable, or otherwise interfere with the App’s security features, access controls, or license enforcement.
• Use the App in any way that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair our infrastructure or third-party services we rely on.
• Use the App to transmit spam, unsolicited invitations, or promotional content through shared features.
• Violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law or regulation in connection with your use of the App.

We reserve the right to remove content or suspend or terminate accounts that violate these guidelines, particularly in shared spaces. If you encounter content or behavior in a Shared Pack that violates these Terms, you can report it to us at nathan@5catsgamestudios.com or, for Premium users, via the in-app reporting feature.

Third-Party Services

BibleNova integrates with third-party services to deliver its features. Your use of BibleNova is subject to the applicable terms and privacy policies of each service listed below. Five Cats Studios is not responsible for the practices of these third parties.

• API.Bible (American Bible Society) — provides streaming Bible translation content. Terms · Privacy Policy
• Google Play Billing — processes all in-app purchases and subscriptions. Google Play Terms
• Google AdMob & User Messaging Platform (UMP) — serves ads on the free tier and manages consent. Google Privacy Policy
• Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Crashlytics, Cloud Storage) — powers optional account sign-in, Shared Packs, cloud backup, and crash diagnostics. Firebase Privacy
• Android SpeechRecognizer — used by Speak & Record mode. The backing service is typically Google’s speech recognizer, which may process audio per Google’s Privacy Policy. Google Privacy Policy
• Buy Me a Coffee — optional external donation link only. No App data is shared when you tap the link. Privacy Policy

Links within BibleNova to third-party websites or services are provided for convenience. We do not endorse or assume responsibility for the content or practices of any third-party site.

Privacy

Your privacy matters to us. Our Privacy Policy describes in detail what data we collect and don’t collect, where it lives, how long we keep it, and your rights under applicable law. The Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

The short version: BibleNova is built offline-first. Your verse progress, reflections, and Legacy Vault stay on your device unless you choose to share them. We don’t sell your data. We don’t use your personal content to train AI models. Optional account sign-in and cloud backup are available for Premium users who want them.

Account Termination & Deletion

You can delete your account at any time. The recommended path is directly inside the App: Settings → Account → Delete Account. Instructions for all deletion paths — including the no-login email fallback — are on our Delete Account page.

Deleting your account removes all server-side data associated with it, including cloud-backup data and account-linked profile information. Your local on-device data is not deleted by the account deletion flow — you can clear it through Android’s App Storage settings or by uninstalling the App. Account deletion does not automatically cancel an active subscription — you must cancel your subscription separately through Google Play.

We may suspend or terminate your account, or restrict your access to specific features, if you materially violate these Terms — for example, by harassing other users, posting prohibited content, or circumventing license controls. We will aim to provide notice before termination except where immediate action is necessary to protect our community or systems.

If your account is suspended or terminated for a Terms violation, you remain responsible for any financial obligations that accrued before termination, and we may refuse future registrations at our discretion.

Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

App Provided As-Is

BibleNova is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. While we work hard to keep the App reliable and accurate, we make no warranties — express, implied, or statutory — regarding the App, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, or that any defects will be corrected.

Not a Theological or Counseling Authority

BibleNova is a personal Bible memorization and study tool. It is not a substitute for professional pastoral guidance, theological education, mental health support, medical advice, or legal counsel. Scripture text is displayed as received from the applicable translation source and we make no representations about theological interpretations of displayed passages.

Data Loss

Because BibleNova is offline-first, your data is stored primarily on your device. If you uninstall the App, change devices, or experience a device failure without an active cloud backup, your local data may be permanently lost. We recommend enabling cloud backup (for eligible users) or using Android’s built-in app backup features to protect your progress. Five Cats Studios is not liable for loss of locally stored data.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Five Cats Studios LLC and its members, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use BibleNova, including but not limited to loss of verse progress, reflections, Legacy Vault content, streaks, or other data; loss of access to the App or Premium features; or interruption of service. Our total cumulative liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you paid Five Cats Studios in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the claim, or (b) $10.00 USD.

Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Five Cats Studios LLC and its members, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses — including reasonable attorneys’ fees — arising out of or in connection with your violation of these Terms, your use of any shared feature, or your violation of any third party’s rights.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as BibleNova grows and evolves. When we do, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. For material changes — changes that meaningfully affect your rights or obligations — we will provide notice within the App before the new Terms take effect.

The App uses a terms_version identifier to track which version of these Terms each user has accepted. When the terms_version increments to reflect a material change, users subject to in-app acceptance requirements will be prompted to re-accept the updated Terms before continuing. See the Acceptance section (§1) for which build types require in-app acceptance.

Your continued use of BibleNova after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you should stop using the App and, if applicable, delete your account and cancel any active subscription through Google Play.

Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Iowa, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from or related to these Terms or your use of BibleNova that cannot be resolved informally shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Iowa.

Informal resolution first. Before initiating any formal proceeding, you agree to contact us at nathan@5catsgamestudios.com and give us a reasonable opportunity — at least 30 days — to resolve the dispute. We genuinely prefer to work things out directly.

If you are located in a jurisdiction that does not permit the choice of Iowa law or the exclusive jurisdiction of Iowa courts, the mandatory laws and courts of your jurisdiction will govern to the extent required.

Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining Terms will remain in full force and effect.

Entire Agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any additional terms applicable to specific features, constitute the entire agreement between you and Five Cats Studios LLC with respect to BibleNova and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
