Deleting your account inside the app

The fastest way to delete your account and associated cloud data is directly inside BibleNova. Follow these steps:

  1. 1
Open BibleNova and tap the menu or profile icon to reach Settings.
  2. 2
    Inside Settings, tap Account.
  3. 3
Tap Delete account. A confirmation dialog will appear asking you to confirm your intent.
  4. 4
Re-authenticate if prompted. If you signed in with Google, the app may ask you to sign in with Google again to confirm your identity. If you signed in with email and password, you may be asked to enter your password before deletion proceeds.
  5. 5
Confirm deletion in the dialog. Your account will be removed.

What gets removed on the server

Completing in-app account deletion removes your Firebase authentication identity and the cloud data associated with that identity — including your Firestore membership records and any shared pack server data tied to your account.

What stays on your device

After account deletion, local data may remain on your device — including verse progress, collections, and other app data stored locally. This data is not automatically wiped by the account deletion flow. To remove it, clear the app's storage or uninstall the app (see Section 2 below).

After deletion: anonymous session

Following account deletion, the app may automatically create a new anonymous session so that cloud-connected features (such as Shared Packs) remain functional. This is a fresh identity with no connection to your deleted account — it does not restore any of your previous data.

Path summary: Settings → Account → Delete account → Re-authenticate if prompted → Confirm. Server data (Firebase user + Firestore shared pack data) is removed. Local device data remains until you clear storage or uninstall.

Removing data without deleting your account

Leave a Shared Pack

You can leave individual Shared Packs without deleting your full account. Use the in-app pack or collection management flow to leave each shared pack. Leaving a pack removes your server-side membership for that pack from our systems, without affecting the rest of your account or local data.

Clear all local app data

To remove all data BibleNova has stored on your Android device (verse progress, collections, settings, and cached content):

Alternatively, uninstalling BibleNova will also remove all locally stored app data from your device.

Note: Clearing local storage or uninstalling the app does not delete your Firebase account or server-side cloud data. To remove cloud data, use the in-app account deletion flow described in Section 1, or contact support.

BibleNova+ subscription

Deleting your BibleNova account or uninstalling the app does not cancel your BibleNova+ subscription. Your subscription is managed entirely through Google Play, and billing continues independently of whether the app is installed or your account is active.

To cancel BibleNova+, you must do so through Google Play:

Important: Cancel your subscription in Google Play before or after deleting your account to stop future charges. The exact wording in Google Play may vary slightly by device or region.

What happens to your data after deletion

When you delete your account via the in-app flow, the server-side data tied to your Firebase identity — including your authentication record and shared pack cloud data — is removed by the deletion and leave-pack flows described above.

A limited amount of information may persist for a period in system backups, server logs, or support records as part of normal technical operations. This residual data is not used to re-identify you and is not shared. For full details on how we handle data, please see our Privacy Policy.

If you have questions about specific data or would like assistance confirming your data has been removed, contact us at the address below.
