BibleNexus is built on the faithful work of translators, publishers, and Bible societies who have spent generations bringing God's Word into every language and reading level. This page provides the required attributions, copyright notices, and licensing information for all Bible translations available in the app.
BibleNexus streams Bible translations through API.Bible, a service operated by the American Bible Society (ABS). API.Bible provides access to over 2,500 Bible versions in 1,600+ languages, acting as a licensed digital distributor on behalf of the copyright holders of each translation it serves.
When you use a streaming translation in BibleNexus (any translation that isn’t the bundled KJV), the Scripture text is delivered via API.Bible under the terms of its Fair Use Management System (FUMS), which tracks usage to ensure value is communicated back to the copyright holders.
These translations are included directly in the BibleNexus app and are available fully offline without any internet connection.
The King James Version (also known as the Authorized Version) was first published in 1611. It is in the public domain in the United States and most of the world, but in the United Kingdom it remains under perpetual Crown copyright by royal letters patent. In England, Wales, and Northern Ireland these rights are administered by Cambridge University Press (the King’s Printer); in Scotland, by the Scottish Bible Board. The text as modernized in spelling, punctuation, and formatting by the American Bible Society in 1962 is the edition bundled with BibleNexus.
NKJV and CSB are available through our API.Bible Pro Commercial license with Thomas Nelson and Holman Bible Publishers. Because they are paid commercial translations, they unlock with any BibleNexus Premium tier (monthly, yearly, or lifetime). Streamed on first use, then cached for offline access.
The New King James Version is a modern translation that updates the language of the KJV while preserving its textual tradition. Published by Thomas Nelson and delivered to BibleNexus through API.Bible’s Pro commercial plan.
The Christian Standard Bible is a modern English translation that pursues “optimal equivalence” between formal and dynamic translation approaches. Published by Holman Bible Publishers, a division of LifeWay Christian Resources, and delivered to BibleNexus through API.Bible’s Pro commercial plan.
The English Standard Version is an “essentially literal” translation published by Crossway. Five Cats Studios has submitted an application for ESV license approval; once approved, ESV will join NKJV and CSB as a Premium translation available to all BibleNexus Premium subscribers. Copyright notice will be posted here once the license is confirmed.
BibleNexus automatically enables every translation our API.Bible key can access — approximately 195 text translations across more than 100 languages. All of them are free; the only exceptions are the two paid commercial translations listed above (NKJV and CSB). Translations are streamed on first use and cached for offline access after that. Full copyright information for every translation is visible in-app under Settings → Bible Versions.
